Several petitions for exemption from NEET in Tamil Nadu have been filed with the Supreme Court, all of which were rejected in 2017. Tamil Nadu was one of the states that opposed the implementation of NEET to replace the All India Pre-Medical Admissions Exam (AIPMT) at all Central and State Universities. Prior to NEET in 2013, admission to Tamil Nadu’s medical courses was based on class 12 scores and institution-specific entrance exams in two ways.
